About KAKE JAPANESE SPEECH CONTEST

Bridging Cultures Through Language

In commemoration of its 50th year since establishment, the Kake Educational Institution held its first Japanese Speech Contest in 2011. This prestigious event featured regional contests around the world, with the grand final taking place at the Kake main campus in Okayama City. But the Kake Educational Institution is more than just a single campus—it’s a network of universities dedicated to education, research, and international exchange.

The Kake Educational Institution Network

The Kake Educational Institution comprises three major universities:

◾OKAYAMA University of Science: A hub for scientific research and innovation, OKAYAMA University of Science contributes to advancements in various fields.
◾KURASHIKI University of Science and the Arts: This university combines scientific knowledge with artistic expression, fostering creativity and interdisciplinary learning.
◾CHIBA Institute of Science: Known for its rigorous academic programs, CHIBA Institute of Science prepares students for successful careers.

Together, these institutions form the largest educational network in Western Japan, providing diverse educational opportunities to students.

SPUTNIK Japanese Campus

In addition to Japanese language courses, the SPUTNIK Japanese Campus—an integral part of the Kake Educational Institution—introduces students to the broader KAKE University Network. By connecting students with higher educational opportunities, SPUTNIK facilitates academic growth and cross-cultural understanding.

Strengthening Bonds: The KAKE International Japanese Speech Contest

The KAKE International Japanese Speech Contest goes beyond language proficiency. It serves as a platform to strengthen friendship between Japan and other countries. Participants from around the world share their perspectives, experiences, and ‘the Japan’ they perceive. Through their speeches, they promote understanding of Japanese culture and language overseas.
Under the patronage of the Embassy of Japan, this collaborative event involves the KAKE University Network in Japan. By fostering dialogue and cultural exchange, the contest embodies the founder Tsutomu Kake’s vision of international understanding.

As we celebrate this milestone, let us continue building bridges through language, education, and shared experiences.
